We’re all familiar with loyalty programs, but did you know that you can earn Bitcoin while you shop? In this 11th video on the Smarter Demos series, we take a look at some of the latest in omnichannel retail technology. While on location at NRF 2019: Retail’s Big Show in New York City from January 13-15, the SmarterCX team met with Alex Adelman, CEO of Lolli, who explained how Lolli lets consumers earn Bitcoin while they shop at 500+ participating merchants, as well as shared his views on Bitcoin trends in 2019.

SmarterCX: Alex, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you guys do?
Alex Adelman: My name is Alex and I’m the CEO of Lolli. We’ve created a free shopping tool that lets anyone earn Bitcoin when they shop online at over 500 merchants.
SmarterCX: Can you tell us a little bit about Bitcoin for somebody who may not know about it and what’s the advantage of earning it?
Alex Adelman: It’s very simple. Bitcoin lets you be your own bank and take control of your money. Lolli’s a really nice onramp into getting into crypto. You don’t have to invest, you get it for free, and it takes something that you do already, which is shop online, and lets people get involved without having to invest their own money.
SmarterCX: That’s awesome! Alex, can you tell me what you think are going to be a few hot retail trends in 2019?
Alex Adelman: So, we’re seeing firsthand that a lot of retailers are really interested in Bitcoin, but they’re not quite sure how they want to get involved. I think a lot of people thought that retailers were going to adopt payment technologies to accept Bitcoin. We have taken a different spin and have been very successful in it so far by giving retailers the tools to give their customers the ability to earn Bitcoin. I think there’s some really exciting long term things that will happen in 2019, 2020, and I think we’re going to be at the forefront of that.
